What is Crime Scene at the Library?
Crime Scene examines the role forensic evidence plays in a homicide investigation. The scenario takes the audience from evidence collection at the scene through testing and analysis, comparing real life processes to those seen on television. The panel consists of moderator Linda Mickey plus a DNA scientist from the crime lab. Former law enforcement officer and reporter Doug Cummings may also join the presentation.
How do I schedule Crime Scene at my organization?
Contact Linda Mickey to schedule a date. Please note that Crime Scene usually cannot be scheduled from January through mid-May.
Is there an attendance requirement?
Yes. Please request registration of your members or patrons. Crime Scene has a minimum attendance requirement of 12. Please keep in mind that 25% of those who sign up will not attend.
Do you help with advertising?
Linda will provide you with sample press releases and media alerts. Feel free to contact other libraries or organizations about the methods they used to attract people for this program. In addition, Linda includes the appearances in her e-newsletters and on her Web site and the Crime Scene Web site.
What is the fee for Crime Scene?
For programs booked after May 1, 2008:
North of I-88 -$300, South of I-88 - $325, (Locations in excess of 50 miles from Vernon Hills may also be charged a small fuel surcharge.)
